Here you will find the world’s most popular and simple to make mixed drink recipes

Here in the Mixed Drink Recipes Guide we look at recipes of drinks that get mixed, but are not cocktails in the true sense of the word. Although the difference is small in some cases, this means these mixed drinks generally have only 2 or 3 ingredients consisting of a base alcoholic ingredient and a mixer or two. Also, they do not necessarily get garnished (barring the odd lemon slice or two).

These are the drinks you will drinks at house parties and bars that do not serve cocktails.

As with cocktail mixing, we encourage you to experiment by mixing different spirits and mixers together as well as the proportions in which you mix them. Typical mixers you can use are sodas (like Coke, Fanta, Sprite, 7Up), lemonade, juices and cordials (like lime and passion fruit).

Here are a few mixed drinks that we have tried and tested:

BRANDY MIXED DRINKS

Brandy and Coke
A drink enjoyed in many parts of the world. Pour one or two shots of your favorite brandy in a highball glass filled with ice and top up with Coke. Add a dash of lemon juice if you like.

Brandy and orange juice
Perhaps not as popular as Brandy and Coke, but very nice on a hot day. An alternative to Vodka and orange juice (aka Screwdriver). Pour one or two shots brandy in highball glass filled with ice and and top up with fresh orange juice.


GIN MIXED DRINK RECIPES

Gin makes very refreshing drinks, although not everybody likes the taste.

Gin and dry lemon
Pour one or two shots of your favorite gin in a highball glass filled with ice and top up with dry lemon soda. Add a slice of lemon if you like.

Gin and lime
Pour one or two shots of your favorite gin in a lowball glass and add a shot of lime. Dilute it with tonic water if you prefer.


VODKA MIXED DRINKS

Vodka mixes well with just about any mixer because of its neutral taste. Here are a few suggestions to get you imagination going.

Vodka and Coke
Pour one or two shots of your favorite vodka in a highball glass filled with ice and top up with Coke.

Vodka and orange juice
Aka “Screwdriver”. Pour one or two shots of your favorite vodka in a highball glass filled with ice and top up with orange juice.

Vodka and Red Bull
Pour one or two shots of your favorite vodka in a highball glass filled with ice and top up with Red Bull. This drink really lifts you up and is a favorite with clubbers.

Vodka, passion fruit and lemonade
Pour one or two shots of your favorite vodka in a highball glass filled with ice. Add a shot of passion fruit cordial and top up with lemonade.

Sparkling vodka mixed drink
Pour one or two shots of your favorite vodka in a highball glass filled with ice. Add a shot of lime and top up with soda or sparkling mineral water. A great refreshing drink.


WHISKEY MIXED DRINKS

Whiskey and Coke
This may sound like an unlikely combination, but in some parts of the world and even Scotland, it’s very popular. Pour one or two shots of your favorite whiskey in a highball glass filled with ice. Top up with coke.

Whiskey and Red Bull
Jack Daniel’s works particularly well in this drink. Pour one or two shots of your favorite whiskey in a highball glass filled with ice. Top up with Red Bull.

Whiskey and soda
A slightly personality-less drink. Pour one or two shots of your favorite whiskey in a lowball glass filled with ice. Top up with soda.
